Main Responsibilities:
You will play a key role in ensuring the stability, performance, and security of our Unix-based systems. Here’s what your day-to-day will look like:
- System Administration: Manage and monitor Unix/Linux servers to ensure optimal performance.
- Maintenance: Perform regular updates, patches, and backups to ensure smooth infrastructure operations.
- Troubleshooting: Quickly identify and resolve hardware and software issues to minimize downtime.
- Security: Implement robust security measures, including user access controls and system hardening.
- Performance Optimization: Optimize system performance and ensure high availability.
- Automation: Create and maintain scripts to automate administrative tasks using tools like Bash, Python, or similar.
- Disaster Recovery: Develop and test disaster recovery plans to ensure business continuity.
- Documentation: Maintain detailed documentation of systems, processes, and procedures.
- Collaboration: Work with cross-functional teams to support application deployments and infrastructure improvements.
- Compliance: Ensure all systems align with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
Desired Profile
Professional Skills:
- Proficiency in Unix/Linux operating systems (e.g., Red Hat, CentOS, Ubuntu).
- Strong scripting skills (e.g., Bash, Perl, Python).
- Experience with configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Jenkins).
- Familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS or Azure (a plus).
- Solid understanding of networking concepts and protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP).
- Knowledge of virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, KVM).
- Expertise in storage systems and backup solutions.
- Experience with monitoring tools (e.g., Nagios, Zabbix, Prometheus).
- Experience working in Agile environments (Scrum or Kanban).
Technical Knowledge and Certifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in Unix/Linux system administration.
Additional Requirements:
- A-level + 2 years or equivalent through professional experience.
- Excellent communication skills, structured and process-oriented mindset.
- Ability to quickly learn new technologies.
- Fluency in English (B2 level or higher); French is a plus.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.

Although open to technologies used by our customers, ABAKUS IT-SOLUTIONS seeks mainly but not only consultants mastering: Windows and Linux Servers, networks, developments (JAVA, SAP, .NET,…) as well as highly specialized experts for example in cybersecurity or in Content Management System (CMS) (SharePoint, Drupal, WebLogic…).
In terms of non-technical competencies, ABAKUS IT-SOLUTIONS hires dynamic persons, open to the world, interested by innovation and having a keen sense of client relationship.
A very good command of English is essential, the capacity to speak French, German or Dutch is an asset.
